which will be held at “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in Bucharest, Romania The National Neurosciences Society of Romania and The Physiological Society Sponsored by: International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) The Wellcome Trust The First International Conference of the National Neuroscience Society of Romania will be held at "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in Bucharest, Romania, on September 26th and 27th 2003 and is supported by International Brain Research Organization (IBRO). Travel grants for the young scientists from Central and Eastern Europe are provided by IBRO CEERC. The Conference will follow The Physiological Society Workshop in Neurosciences - “Ischemia/Hypoxia in the Brain: Experimental Methods and Basic Mechanisms”, sponsored by the Physiological Society. The general theme of the Conference will follow the theme set by the Workshop: Ischemia and Hypoxia in the Brain. This topic is integrated in a wider Neuroscience perspective to provide interdisciplinary and general context and to cover both the basic science and clinical aspects of current neuroscience research. During the conference four posters will be selected and be given the opportunity for short oral presentations. Prizes will be awarded for the best posters. National and international applicants interested in joining the National Neuroscience Society of Romania can apply for membership at www.snn.ro There will be no conference registration fee for the students and for the Workshop attendants. Deadline for application is August 22, 2003. The abstract submission should be sent to Dr. Ana-Maria Zagrean at snn@univermed-cdgm.ro. Please use for the abstract the basic layout of one page (A4, 12 point font size) and no formatting. The poster format should not exceed A0 format (120cm/90cm). To get information about the options for accommodation please download the Word file form for completion. You can send this form either as an attachment to an e-mail or by fax to the organisers. A number of 20 travel grants provided by IBRO CEERC will be available for the young scientists from Central and Eastern Europe on the basis of their application. The applicants should submit an abstract for poster presentation, a short CV including contact details, a publication list and a letter of recommendation.
